ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION SERVICES
Position Type: Non-union, at-will, exempt (FLSA), 12-month
POSITION SUMMARY
The Education Services leadership role may become an Associate Director of Education Services or Director of Education Services based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience; compensation will be commensurate with the final title, job responsibilities, and credentials. The Associate Director/Director of Education Services is a cabinet-level position reporting to the Superintendent. This role provides strategic leadership and operational management of all Education Services within St. Clair County RESA, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, and whole-child support. The Associate Director/Director serves as a key liaison between local school districts and state/federal education agencies, advocating for best practices and supporting continuous improvement across the county.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate or Central Office Administrator Certificate
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following: central office administration, building-level instructional leadership, or district-wide curriculum and instruction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of Central Office experience
- Demonstrated expertise with early literacy and mathematics instruction
- Experience implementing Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
- Demonstrated expertise in data-informed instructional decision-making and school improvement
- Experience with state and federal grant creation and management
- Track record leading countywide or regional professional learning initiatives
- Experience with college and career readiness programs and workforce development
- Proficiency in using AI to improve instruction and increase administrative efficiencies
- Knowledge of the “Getting Smart” Instructional Framework and/or demonstrated commitment to innovation
- Competency in equity and culturally responsive leadership
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Strategic Alignment
- Report to the Superintendent and serve as a member of the Cabinet
- Execute and communicate SCCRESA's strategic plan in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders
- Provide vision and direction for innovation and continuous improvement across all Education Services
Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
- Provide leadership and technical assistance to local school districts in best practices in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and whole-child support
- Monitor trends in pedagogy, standards, and assessment; communicate emerging opportunities and best practices to districts and staff
- Develop and oversee college and career readiness plans, programs, and practices across the service area
Whole-Child & Continuous Improvement
- Provide leadership for MTSS, PBIS, and other frameworks that support the whole child
- Supervise the implementation of mental health and student wellness initiatives
- Facilitate countywide networks of principals, curriculum leaders, and other relevant stakeholder groups
State/Federal Liaison
- Interpret and assist local districts with federal and state mandates, legislation, and regulations
- Provide timely technical assistance and professional development to support local district compliance
- Serve as liaison to the Michigan Department of Education, state agencies, and regional partners
- Monitor compliance and recommend corrective action as needed
Staff Supervision & Professional Learning
- Supervise Education Services staff, including the Department of Education Services, 31n Program, and LearnOn teachers
- Define tasks, set performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and professional development
- Plan, develop, and implement countywide professional learning and related activities aligned to district needs
Budget, Grants & Operations
- Develop, monitor, and manage the Education Services budget annually
- Assist in identifying and preparing grant applications and consortium arrangements
- Collaborate with Finance and other departments to align resources with strategic priorities
Inter-Departmental Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with all department directors to align services and ensure success for all students and families in the service area
- Facilitate communication and coordination between Education Services and other SCCRESA departments
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent to support the mission of SCCRESA

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position Status: Non-union, at-will, exempt (FLSA)
Duration: 12-month position
Work Location: St. Clair County RESA, Marysville, MI (flexible work arrangements may be negotiated with Superintendent)
Employment Date: On or before July 1, 2026, pending Board approval and successful completion of background check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment drug screen
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, and job responsibilities
- Associate Director: $112,000-$116,000
- Director: $134,000-$138,000

Salary : $112,000 - $138,000
