Headwaters School, a Pre-K through grade 12 independent day school serving over 500 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a Part-Time Bus/Passenger Van Driver for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a temporary position and hours will be on an as needed basis. This includes driving for the daily school shuttle service, field trips and excursions.
Job Summary: Driving a bus and passenger van to transport students and staff between campuses and to special events and scheduled field trips. Must maintain a good driving record and CDL license. The Temporary Driver Team Member reports directly to our Director of Accounting and Operations.
Starting rate: $30.00 per hour
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Previous driving experience required
- Experience working with children/students
- Must be able to pass a Fingerprint background check, physicals and drug screenings
- Must have a current CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements
- Must have a High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent
- Must be able to complete training programs as stipulated by the School, including CPR and first aid
- Current driver’s license and clean driving record (minimum 5 years)
- Knowledge of safe driving practices & techniques
- A positive attitude and dependability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions in English
- Ability to interact with administrators, school staff and students in a professional manner
- Ability to problem solve, collaborate, and work well with others
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to self-direct and effectively prioritize work
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 140 pounds with assistance
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, push, pull and twist the majority of the day
This is a temporary, part-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
