Principal Scientist - Erlanger, KY

Main Function

This person will be a senior technical leader for volatile flavor analysis who decodes the most complex challenges in long term research, effectively provides analytical insight in short term flavor projects and strives in collaborative working and knowledge sharing within the organization.

Description Of Work Performed

• Senior level role supporting CD&D, R&D and the broader business
• Will perform tasks such as:
• Serve as project lead or individual contributor in global & local flavor projects
• Volatile method development and analysis using GC-FID-MS, GCO, GC´GC-TOF-MS
• Sample preparation (foods, beverages, flavors etc.)
• Convert complex analytical, chemometric results into actionable communications
• Maintenance and simple instrument repairs
• Collaboration within the Global AFI team along with the NA team of flavorists.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• PhD or equivalent in Food science, chemistry or other related field with 10 years of flavor experience
• Experience in the flavor industry is a must
• Meticulous work ethic, high intrinsic motivation, great communicator and collaborator
  
  

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

• Passionate flavor analyst with strong understanding of business needs, team oriented, and possessing strong communication skills
• Effectively communicate to internal and external technical and non-technical audiences with ability to succinctly explain complex technical concepts to key stakeholders
• Results-oriented with the ability to manage, balance and prioritize multiple project initiatives to meet business objectives
• Advanced level use of analytical instrumentation, flavor analysis, sample preparation techniques and data analysis
• Strong background in flavors strongly preferred
