Job Overview
ADLA Studio is seeking a highly capable Landscape Designer with a strong foundation in technical detailing, project estimating, and production design to join our growing design-build team.
This role goes beyond conceptual design. We are looking for someone who can translate vision into buildable, well-documented, and accurately estimated work, supporting projects from early concept through construction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop design concepts and carry them through full production drawing sets, including plans, sections, and construction details
- Produce technical design documentation including hardscape detailing, grading strategies, planting plans, lighting plans, and irrigation layouts
- Prepare accurate project estimates and takeoffs, including material quantities, labor considerations, and cost forecasting
- Translate design intent into buildable solutions, coordinating closely with internal construction teams and subcontractors
- Generate and manage construction documentation, including estimates, change orders, and contracts via LMN, Dropbox and DocuSign
- Participate in value engineering and scope alignment, ensuring projects stay within budget while maintaining design integrity
- Conduct site analysis and develop responsive design solutions based on grading, drainage, and environmental conditions
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to align design vision with technical execution
- Support the construction phase by answering RFIs, adjusting drawings, and ensuring fidelity between design and build
- Contribute to ongoing refinement of ADLA’s production standards, detailing library, and estimating systems
Technical & Production Skills (Critical)
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Rhino with the ability to produce detailed, accurate construction drawings
- Experience creating construction details (sections, elevations, assemblies, edge conditions, etc.)
- Solid understanding of materials, methods, and sequencing in landscape construction
- Experience with project estimating, takeoffs, and budget alignment
- Familiarity with grading and drainage strategies
- Ability to think through constructability in real-world conditions, not just design intent
Software Proficiency
- SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D
- Adobe Creative Suite
- LMN (or similar CRM/estimating software)
- GIS tools (ArcGIS/ArcView) a plus
Experience & Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in landscape design, architecture, or design-build practice
- Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field
- Demonstrated experience moving projects from concept through construction documentation and execution
- Strong portfolio showing both design thinking and technical resolution
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
What Sets This Role Apart

- Opportunity to develop both design voice and technical mastery
- Work on high-end residential and hospitality projects across the Austin area
- Tight-knit, highly collaborative team environment
