Summary:
This role is crucial within the AES Engineering team, supporting the growing automated switchgear business. It offers the opportunity to work on highly customized projects that promote continuous technical learning and development. The position provides exposure to real-world HMI applications, testing, manufacturing environments, and field support activities in a collaborative environment with experienced HMI and Power Systems Engineering professionals.
Responsibilities
- Execute engineering activities for the design and development of generator control switchgear Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
- Design, modify, develop, and implement HMI software programming solutions.
- Configure, program, and test HMI hardware systems.
- Collaborate with Power System Engineers to validate and troubleshoot HMI programming.
- Provide field and remote support for HMI installation and issue resolution.
- Develop and implement HMI software for generator control switchgear applications.
- Support software validation and troubleshooting activities with Power System Engineers.
- Resolve field-related HMI issues and provide remote installation support.
- Participate in testing and debugging activities across office, lab, and manufacturing environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science with 0-2 years of experience, OR equivalent experience.
- Open to candidates with a 2-year degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Candidates with Master’s degrees are not preferred.
- Experience with HMI software such as FactoryTalk, RSView, Vijeo, Crimson, Kepware, and EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert.
- VBA Scripting, JavaScript, HTML, Function Block Programming (FBD)

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $34.00 - $35.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
