POSTED ON 10/21/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/18/2027

About the role

Adirondack Cabling and Security is seeking a Project Manager to coordinate structured cabling and electronic security installation projects from kickoff through closeout.

You will work with customers, field technicians, vendors, and our operations team to keep projects organized, materials available, schedules on track, and costs controlled. Our senior PM and operations team will provide support as you learn our processes and take on greater project responsibility.

This position is a good fit for an experienced project coordinator, assistant project manager, or lead technician ready to move into project management.

What you’ll do

  • Review project scope, drawings, estimates, and customer requirements before work begins.
  • Coordinate project schedules and staffing needs with operations and field leadership.
  • Maintain material lists, coordinate purchasing, and track deliveries.
  • Confirm site readiness, equipment locations, access requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and provide clear updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Track labor, materials, project progress, and remaining work; flag potential budget or schedule problems early.
  • Identify work outside the agreed scope and prepare change-order requests for review and customer approval.
  • Coordinate with technicians, subcontractors, customers, and other trades to resolve project issues.
  • Maintain project records, drawing markups, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
  • Provide accurate progress information and documentation to support timely billing.
  • Visit project sites to review progress, workmanship, and adherence to safety expectations.
  • Escalate significant technical, financial, or customer issues to the senior PM or operations team.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience coordinating projects or leading installation work, such as a project coordinator, assistant PM, lead technician, or foreperson.
  • Ability to read floor plans and installation drawings.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and clear communication with customers and field teams.
  • Comfort working with labor budgets, material costs, schedules, and changing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, email, and project tracking software.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

A college degree is not required. Relevant field experience and demonstrated coordination skills are valued.

Helpful experience

  • Experience in structured cabling, low-voltage systems, electronic security, IT, or a closely related installation trade.
  • Managing smaller installation projects from start to finish.
  • Structured copper and fiber cabling, access control, or video surveillance systems.
  • Change orders, purchasing, project cost tracking, and billing documentation.
  • Construction or field-service project management software.
  • Relevant industry or safety training.

What success looks like

Projects are well organized, crews have the information and materials they need, customers receive timely updates, scope changes are documented, and problems are raised early enough to address.
