Job Description: As a Maintenance Technical Apprentice, you will develop on the job skills to maintain buildings, industrial systems, and equipment on an ongoing basis. This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
What You’ll Do:
- Receive training from current engineers in proper job safety and repair procedures.
- Observe engineers while they perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed building systems, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
- Work with management to ensure energy management by taking measures to verify that all systems are operating in the most efficient manner.
- Inspect new or existing installations for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Follow a set procedure in the performance of repetitive tasks or job activities.
- Impact through methods, tasks, and duties which are clearly defined and followed with little to no discretion.
What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college program or technical school.
- Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- Ability to develop skills to perform basic activities in own job.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
Overview of Work Environment/Client Nuances:
Commercial office space, with a variety of commercial spaces, including indoor and outdoor, and cleanrooms
*Candidate will need to provide their own Steel toed boots*
Team Overview: Candidate would work within a team
Resource's typical working day:
- Daily check-ins
- Completing assigned work orders
- Walking the buildings for PM's
- Escorting vendors
- Assisting fellow maintenance techs and building engineers
Licenses/Certifications: (n/a but and applicable trainings would be helpful)
- OSHA
- Ladder safety
- Lock out/tag out
Must Have Skills:
- General handyman skills
- Willingness to learn
- Safety mindset
Nice to have skills:
- HVAC experience
- Electrical experience
- Clean room protocols
- Boilers/chillers/generator experience
- Knowing the difference between PM and CM
Years of Experience: no specific number of years
Education: h.s. diploma or GED
Software skills: ticketing system knowledge - done from an app on their phone or an iPad
Interview Process: Possible 1st round phone screen, but may bring candidate directly on-site for in-person interview with H.M.
