Job Summary

  • Client is seeking an Electrician for our client site in Chesterfield, MO.

  • The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm, however, various hours may be required based on business demand.
  • As the Facilities Electrician, you will be expected to: Be responsible for acting as the subject matter expert in the troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical services and components up to 600 volts in a pharmaceutical research environment.
  • The primary responsibilities will be operation and maintenance of the sites electrical distribution system including operation of protective relay systems, troubleshooting outages and faults, and planning preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, solve electrical problems, and provide solutions.
  • The Electrician must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
  • General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.
  • Trouble shoots, assembles, installs, operates, calibrates, dismantles, and repairs all types of electrical equipment.
  • Properly maintains and controls the electrical distribution system to provide a reliable source of electricity to all areas.
  • May serve as maintenance advisor to engineering in material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem-solving methodology, project scope and follow up.
  • Maintains electrical systems from 50-volt instrumentation to complex boiler and chiller controls with voltages up to 600 volts.
  • Maintains and controls site-wide distribution systems.
  • Performs preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on all electrical equipment and distribution systems.
  • Infrared Thermography Scanning of sites electrical gear.
  • Utilizes test equipment to test motors, control circuits, motor drives, UPS systems, batteries, grounding, isolated power, ground-fault circuits/outlets, voltage, and other load conditions.
  • Inspects and performs safety tests on lighting/outlet circuits, generators, motors, appliances, tools, etc.
  • Ensures all circuits are properly protected and systems/equipment are installed and maintained in accordance with the provisions of the NEC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates work with outside contractors.
  • Performs preventive / predictive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and utilizes PPE as required.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management or Lead.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint

  • Ability to work closely with customer during site emergencies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, i.e., listening to customer needs, articulating path forward and giving solutions that provide value to the customer, etc.
  • Accurately document electronic and paper cataloging system to provide information to customer or regulatory personnel.
  • Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge.

Minimum Requirements

  • State of MO Saint Louis County Electrical Contractor’s License
  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, biomedical, or research & development facility maintenance
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated environment and diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, steam turbine, gas turbine, compressors, refrigeration, and more.
  • Strong mechanical skills learned through previous work experience.
  • Ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen. Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver`s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Some physical/special requirements include:

  • Regularly lift to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
  • Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
  • Walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
  • Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.

Preferred Qualififcations

  • Technical degree
  • Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses
  • Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience working with heavy industrial or manufacturing plant steam systems, centrifugal chillers, air handling units, turbines, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, pneumatic controls, and building automation control systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.
  • Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
