JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs, cuts, etches inspect, and destructs testing metal assemblies to ensure the quality of the welded product.
- Inspects assemblies for the correct number of welds, parts, and overall quality of parts.
- Works with automatic welders and small hand tools
- Uses a plasma cut torch, metal saw, inspection tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Rule) some computer skills, and Micro-scope etc.
- Excellent attention to detail/ accuracy.
- Maintains accurate production records and downtime records.
- Follows safe work practices, and plant rules/regulations.
- Works as part of a team.
- Communicates with team members, support staff, and supervisors.
- Maintains organization, safety, and 5S procedures of lab area.
- Follows all ODSs and work instructions.
- Understands and actively implement company policies and procedures.
- Supports welding manufacturing activities as required (i.e.: quality checks and rework
- Implements cost-saving ideas.
- Performs all duties required for Cut & Etch/Weld Destruct testing.
- Prepares samples using cut-off and polishing tools.
- Apply chemicals to metal surfaces.
- Examines sample surfaces under magnification.
- Uses dedicated software to perform measurements
- Records findings in a database, and document measurements in an Excel log sheet.
- Works with minimal supervision and/or team environment, and perform other tasks as required. Engages in safe practices and follows safety rules and job rotation, must be willing to report unsafe conditions and reports unsafe acts. Participates in safety/ergonomic committees, safety Kaizen events, and observation feedback events.
- Assists the plant in achieving safety goals while achieving and maintaining a safe workplace, as well as environmental and sustainability objectives.
Qualifications/Experience
- Be able to lift up to 35 pounds as part of job rotation.
- Be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Background check and drug screen (for illegal drugs).
- Authorized to work within the United States.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to solve problems and work with support personnel.
- Follow technical documentation.
- Excellent and effective communication skills. Ability to talk technically about the process with a solid understanding of process monitoring and products to ensure the right information is communicated.
- Technical school or vocational training in welding preferred
- Computer knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Candidate can apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Experience using calipers, metric scales, and mechanical hand tools.
- Identify and prevent potential safety concerns.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written), as well as organizational skills.
- 3 years of inspection (required).
- 3 years of Manufacturing and Production Automation Occupations (required).
- Must have a consistent employment record including good attendance and be capable of adapting to a participative teamwork environment.
