Job Summary:
The ARx Accounting Manager is responsible for all manufacturing related financial information associated with manufacturing operations in the US, along with providing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and decision making support to P&L owners. This position supports Finance and Manufacturing plant operations through the ongoing analysis of margins, overhead absorption, as well as the reporting, tracking, and analysis of all manufacturing variances, inventory, inventory reserves, inventory metrics/KPI’s and accrued liabilities as they relate to operations.
Essential Functions:
- Cost Analysis: Analyzing costs of production, operations, and projects to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Conduct research and perform analytical and time studies on the manufacturing floor relating to cost analyses and profitability.
- Review standard costing/job costing models, reserve methodologies to identify opportunities for standardization and process improvement.
- Financial Reporting: Creating internal financial reports that provide insights into the financial health of the organization
- Maintain inventory and cost accuracy within the ERP system including existing and new parts and materials.
- Assist in period end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, and analyze inventory valuation, inventory roll forward reconciliation, gross margin and period end analyses as required.
- Direct all cycle counts and yearly physical inventories.
- Support and assist year-end reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others. (i.e. R&D tax credit, cost sharing and transfer pricing models)
- Support Innovation and Product Management/Development with financial analysis on an ad hoc basis
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Preparing detailed budgets and forecasts to help plan and control future operations
- Review and update standard cost models as part of the annual budget process
- Work with Arx department heads to develop the annual budget and provide updates against actuals
- Coordinate with Procurement to develop raw materials forecasting process and incorporate regular updates against budgeted standard cost models in reporting period analysis.
- Variance Analysis: Comparing actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts to identify and explain variances
- Identify, prepare, analyze and report manufacturing variances, scrap, related product returns and develop margin analyses by product family/business.
- Work with Department heads to understand root cause of financial variances and proactively help to identify solutions to mitigate financial risks.
- Coordinate with Corporate Accounting to help develop process to measure the impact of price, volume and mix on manufacturing costs.
- Decision Support & Risk Management: Providing financial data and analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. Identifying and managing financial risks to ensure the stability and profitability of the organization and product groups sold by ARx.
- Proactively build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and P&L owners, providing financial and cost analysis to support key strategic decisions.
- Identify and quantify cost savings from manufacturing operational improvements.
- Help provide financial input for capital appropriations requests as needed.
- Coordinate with IT department for system issues and improvements.
- Performance Measurement: Developing and using performance metrics to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of various business activities
- Identify opportunities for process improvement employing best practice operational excellence principles.
- Identify key financial costing drivers and the KPIs that measure and track these drivers. Report on organizational progress against these metrics.

Job Specifications:
- BS degree in Accounting
- CPA and/or CMA certification required.
- Minimum of 5-10 years experience in manufacturing as well as public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Exposure to a lean manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with Oracle EBS ERP systems is preferred or SAP accepted.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical ability required.
