General Expectations and Responsibilities
- Dimensional inspection of steel pieces after assembly is completed.
- Inspection of welding preparations and of tack welds during assembly operations.
- Recording and following up on non-conformances related to dimensional inspection.
- Inspection of joint preparation as needed.
- Checking and evaluating welds in accordance with a specific procedure as needed.
- Perform visual inspection; ensure welds are per detail drawings, codes, and specification.
- Updating visual inspection progress in the system.
- Ensuring that non-conformities are processed.
- Interpretation of specifications and standards applicable to contracts.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, and CWB W59-13.
- Knowledge of welding, metallurgy, and steel fabrication.
- Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and work sequencing.
- Strict adherence to company and job specifications.
- Ability to use standard measuring tools (tape measures, squares, welding gauges, etc.).
- Ability to interpret standard and metric measurements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work autonomously and respect rules of confidentiality.
- All other related tasks.
Education, Training, or Work Experience
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
- 5 or more years’ experience in fabrication; interpreting blueprints.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand/walk for 10 hours at a time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel for varying lengths of time.
- Ability to fully articulate shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist.
- Must be able to grasp and safely operate hand and power tools.
- Must be able to occasionally push, pull, lift, pull, or carry up to 75lbs.
- Must be able to work in various conditions (loud, hot, dusty, cold, etc.).
- Must be able to pass AWS visual acuity test.
