What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ship Fitter position at Adept Process Services?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of how to properly operate job scope hand tools & equipment and use safe work practices.
- Clamp, hold, heat-bend, grind and/or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for the welder.
- Monitor the fitting of parts for warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications prior to fit up for welder.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers and reference drawings.
- Provide clean area for welding operation prior to start of welding, accomplish clean up of area prior to end of shift.
- Must certify as Fire Watch and perform fire watch duties as required by welder’s assignment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Work Experience: Minimum 3 years related experience as a shipfitter / welder helper.
- Knowledge of welding principles, processes, and proper fit up procedures.
- Ability to maintain dimensions and tolerances to specifications.
