The Activity Aide assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities for residents in a skilled nursing and long-term care environment. This role helps promote residents’ physical, mental, and social well-being while enhancing their quality of life.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in long-term care, recreation, or working with seniors preferred
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities
- Must be able to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and leading daily activities, events, and group programs for residents
- Encourage resident participation in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities
- Help transport residents to and from activities as needed
- Set up and clean up activity areas and supplies
- Document resident participation and responses to activities
- Provide one-on-one visits with residents who are unable to attend group activities
- Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings
- Support the Activity Director in maintaining an engaging monthly activity calendar
