Weigh-Up/Blending Operator

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Weigh & Blend Operator is responsible for accurately weighing, staging, and blending raw materials to produce dietary supplement products at Adept Life Sciences. Working from approved batch records and formulas, this role ensures every blend is produced safely, on time, and in full compliance with cGMP and quality standards.

Schedule: 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Weighing & Material Staging

• Accurately weigh, measure, and dispense raw materials and ingredients according to approved batch records and formulas.
• Verify material identity, lot numbers, and quantities against the batch record prior to weighing.
• Stage and organize weighed components for each batch, ensuring proper labeling and segregation to prevent cross-contamination or mix-ups.
• Calibrate and perform routine verification checks on scales and balances before use.

Blending Operations

• Operate blending equipment (ribbon, V-blenders, tumble blenders, and similar) following standard operating procedures.
• Load, blend, and unload materials for the specified mix times and parameters to achieve a uniform, homogeneous blend.
• Monitor equipment during operation and report any malfunctions, deviations, or abnormal conditions to the Production Supervisor.
• Transfer completed blends to the appropriate containers, drums, or totes for the next stage of production.

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete batch records, weigh sheets, and production logs accurately and in real time.
• Follow all cGMP, safety, and Good Documentation Practices throughout the weighing and blending process.
• Support in-process quality checks and cooperate with Quality personnel on sampling and holds.
• Report and document any deviations, non-conformances, or out-of-specification conditions.

Sanitation & Equipment Care

• Clean and sanitize weighing areas, blending equipment, tools, and utensils between batches per approved procedures.
• Complete and document line clearances to prevent product cross-contamination.
• Perform routine operator-level maintenance and promptly report equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

• Coordinate with production, warehouse, and quality teams to keep batches moving on schedule.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, product safety, and quality.
• Provide support to other production functions, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)

• One year or more of manufacturing experience, preferably in dietary supplements, food, or pharmaceutical production.
• Experience weighing materials and operating blending equipment in a cGMP environment preferred.
• Basic math skills and the ability to read and follow batch records and standard operating procedures.
• Familiarity with ERP or MES systems a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Regularly involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, and the use of hands and fingers for extended periods.
• Frequently involves lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials up to 50 pounds; heavier loads with assistance or equipment.
• Occasionally involves climbing, kneeling, or working at elevated platforms to load equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required may include near acuity, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed in a manufacturing/production environment that may include exposure to dust, powders, noise, and varying temperatures.
• Involves moderate to strenuous physical activity performing daily production tasks.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment, i.e. dust masks/respirators, gloves, hairnets, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear as needed.
