The OpportunityAdept Group is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineering Manager to support our growing Medical Device and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) consulting practices. This candidate will bring 5 years of relevant packaging experience in regulated environments such as medical devices, healthcare, or consumer goods. (The ideal candidate will have experience in both industries). The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader/coach with strong project management capabilities, deep understanding of packaging development processes, and proven experience driving specification management programs and packaging data accuracy. This role will be customer-facing and highly collaborative, working across a diverse mix of established brands and emerging innovators. This role may be remote or hybrid, with the ability to travel periodically to support client engagements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage packaging engineering projects across medical devices and/or CPG portfolios, from concept through commercialization.
- Own and improve packaging specification management processes, including creation, harmonization, migration, and lifecycle governance of packaging specs across client systems (PLM/ERP/Spec Management platforms).
- Serve as a primary point of contact and strategic advisor for client teams, building strong relationships and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Oversee and mentor a team of packaging engineers and specialists, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain accurate packaging documentation, bills of materials, and technical specifications aligned with regulatory, quality, and operational requirements.
- Drive timelines, budgets, and resource planning to ensure successful execution of multi-phase packaging programs.
- Support packaging validation activities (ISTA, ASTM, transit testing, sterile barrier validation, etc.) where required for medical devices.
- Partner with internal practice leadership to strengthen and scale our packaging engineering and specification management offering.
- Champion sustainable packaging practices by identifying opportunities for optimization and environmental impact reduction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5 years of packaging engineering experience in medical devices, healthcare packaging, and/or high-volume CPG.
- Demonstrated experience in packaging specification management, including harmonization, data cleanup, spec migration, or system implementation (e.g., PLM, ERP, or digital spec platforms).
- Strong foundational knowledge of materials, distribution testing, packaging development processes, and manufacturing environments.
- Experience in regulated industries, such as FDA-compliant medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or food (preferred but not required for all CPG roles).
- Proven track record leading cross-functional initiatives and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, and foster a high-performance culture.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to support client engagements.

Salary : $105,000 - $135,000
