What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Laboratory Tech position at Adena Health?
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Lab Technologist to join our Laboratory Services Team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing accurate, high-quality laboratory testing and supporting exceptional patient care.
The MLT assists in the collection of laboratory specimens and is the initial analyst for routine laboratory testing. This position has access to confidential patient information and performs direct patient care. This position does not have access to funds.
- Position: Casual, Medical Lab Technologist
- Hours: Variable hours, per staffing needs.
- Location: Adena Health System, 272 Hospital Rd – Chillicothe, Ohio 45601

Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
- Process lab orders, provide direction on what needs collected, and ensure accurate information is distributed on time.
- Perform laboratory tests and ensure timely, accurate reporting of results.
- Evaluate the testing process and collaborate with supervisors for corrective actions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and testing methods.
- Contribute to the development of new lab techniques and special projects.
- Assist with educational activities and resolve critical issues promptly.
- Manage the reception process, including phone etiquette and accurate message handling
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Medical Lab Technician (MLT) certification by American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Clinical experience in a clinical laboratory as part of the associate degree program
