We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support all divisions within our Lakeland, Florida operations. Under the direction of the Director of Safety, the Safety Specialist is responsible for enhancing and maintaining a safe work environment across field operations. This role assists with regulatory compliance, injury prevention, risk assessments, communications, and safety training initiatives. In addition, this role will support various non-safety duties based on business needs.

- Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur
- Works with the Director of Safety to plan, implement and supervise all project safety
- Reports safety performance measurement with a focus on leading indicators to the Director of Safety Analyzes and recommends corrective action for incidents and trends for the Industrial and Ride/Steel/Other divisions
- Reinforces safety culture with field employees, including subcontractors
- Completes weekly site visits and inspections (more frequently as required by project)
- Follows up on any OSHA related issues, citations, and/or paperwork requirements
- Attends project related safety and pre-construction meetings
- Assists in accident, injury and near miss investigations
- Provides and oversees safety orientation and training for employees including, at a minimum: Rigging Fundamentals, Signalperson, Crane Safety, Fall Protection, Ladder
- Safety, and other training as needed including utilizing outside vendors/resources
- Completes/reviews safety portion of subcontractor pre-qualification paperwork, provides at a minimum site-specific orientation to subcontractors
- Assists in development of site safety plans
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Candidate will be required to provide safety coverage on nightshift on occasion
- Candidate will be required to be Train-the-Trainer certified on ariel lifts (MEWPs) and telehandler
- Candidate will receive Scaffold Competent Person training
Preferred Qualifications :
- 4 years of Construction experience
- Valid OSHA 510, OSHA 30 certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, Forklift Training, Crane Safety, Fall Protection, Rigging/Signaling required or willingness to complete within sixty (60) days from date of hire
- Strong Microsoft Office skills required
- Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
- Strong commitment to safety
- Strong initiative, problem solving and attention to detail
