Position Overview
The District Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple operational sites within an assigned district, ensuring each location operates safely, efficiently, and profitably. This role serves as the critical link between corporate leadership and site-level management, translating company strategy into consistent execution across all locations.
Key ResponsibilitiesDistrict Oversight
- Manage and support multiple mining and materials operations within the district (typically 5–20 sites, depending on scope and region).
- Ensure all locations meet performance, safety, and operational standards.
Performance & Financial Accountability
- Drive district-wide performance in:
- Production and sales targets
- Profitability and cost control
- Inventory and materials management
- Loss prevention and asset protection
- Customer and client service standards
- Analyze operational data and financial reports to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Site Managers and leadership teams.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback.
- Build strong teams that follow company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.
Strategy Execution
- Implement corporate initiatives at the district level, including:
- Operational and process improvements
- New product or service rollouts
- Seasonal or market-driven changes
- Company culture and values
- Safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure consistency in execution across all sites.
Issue Resolution & Escalation
- Address complex issues beyond site-level authority, including:
- Staffing and HR escalations
- Operational breakdowns or safety concerns
- Major customer or client issues
- Budget conflicts and capital needs
- Opening, expanding, or closing operational sites
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven leadership and people-development skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to analyze data and make sound, timely decisions
- High level of operational discipline and organizational skills
- Strong judgment under pressure in fast-paced environments
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the district
- Experience in mining, materials, construction, or heavy industry preferred
