The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. REPORTS TO: Director of Social Work Programs, Manhattan Center
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Provide early identification, intervention, advisement and assistance to students facing academic challenges.
- Assist students and faculty in accessing needed services from university departments such as Writing/Learning Center, Academic Affairs, Disability Support Services, Student Counseling Center, Student Financial Services, Registrar, and others.
- Provide orientation and advisement to students accepted into the school's provisional program.
- Develop academic contracts for students on academic probation, and monitor student progress, and provide academic counseling and assistance to support student success.
- Develop academic supports and deliver programming to support student academic success.
- Take initiative in the School's student affairs unit, under the supervision of the director of the M.S.W. program/director for student engagement and success; attend monthly group supervisory meetings, contribute to unit's efforts, and participate in case consultation.
- Develop and implement opportunities for student leadership, service learning, and professional development via advisement of student associations and coordination of ancillary educational programs.
- Collaborate with department colleagues to provide high quality services to students in all areas including inquiries, orientation, registration, field education, academic supports, continuing education and others.
- Create opportunities and provide encouragement to students to organize in their interests through such activities as facilitating undergraduate and graduate student associations and affinity groups and/or other student groups as interests emerge.
- Assist students with academic petitions and procedures for withdrawals and leaves of absence.
- Provide LMSW exam advisement and preparatory activities as assigned.
- Assist director with alumni engagement, recruitment, enrollment management, and other duties as assigned.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to network with appropriate university academic and administrative offices.
- Computer system proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, web conferencing).
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with students, staff and faculty.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task while effectively planning and organizing work activities.
- Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and reasoning in the performance of evolving job duties, while being an effective team member.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters degree in Social Work is required.
- L.M.S.W. is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of administrative or counseling experience is required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred.
