Required qualifications
- Active Wisconsin Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
- Prior experience in correctional, clinical, or community mental health settings preferred.
- Demonstrated crisis intervention and suicide/risk-assessment skills.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a secure correctional environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Core responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments, screenings, and diagnostic evaluations for inmates.
- Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based interventions.
- Develop, implement, and revise individualized treatment plans.
- Respond to mental health crises, perform suicide risk assessments, and provide crisis stabilization.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (medical, security, psychiatry) and participate in treatment meetings.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation per Wisconsin DOC standards.
- Contribute to case discussions and mental health program development.
- Deliver education on coping strategies, behavior management, and rehabilitation.
- Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and facility safety protocols.
