Adela Summary:
Adela’s mission is to develop innovative and accessible technologies that harness biology and change the way we diagnose and treat disease. Adela’s genome-wide methylation enrichment technology was originally developed by Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Daniel De Carvalho, PhD, at University Health Network’s Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Adela is initially planning to develop the technology for use across the entire cancer continuum—for detection, diagnosis and management of disease.
Position Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) will perform research use only / next-generation sequencing tests, support QA activities and accession samples.
- · Perform testing
- · Conduct QA activities
- · Accessioning, and instrument maintenance
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:
- · Perform Specimen Processing under ther supervision of Laboratory Management
- · Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks
- · Receive and accession samples into the laboratory
- · Participate in Materials management process (receiving supplies, unboxing, storing and documenting inventory)
- · Perform material qualification and documentation
- · Maintain confidentiality of Personal Health Information (PHI)
- · Performance of the testing processes to support the overall company goals
- · Recognize results or problems in assigned duties or processes that require troubleshooting
- · Comply with Adela Quality Control policies
- · Perform additional administrative duties and projects assigned by Laboratory Management
- · Comply with all local, state and federal laws and regulations governing clinical laboratory operations
- · All other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- · AA degree required; Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or other Biology related science is preferred
- · 1-5 years experience
- · Strong background in Microsoft Office Suite of Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Etc.)
- · Strong attention to details
- · Prior experience with pipetting
- · Prior experience or knowledge of working within a clinical laboratory
- · Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally, in writing, and within working groups
Preferred Qualifications:
- · Prior experience with next generation sequencing
- · Prior experience with automation and liquid handlers
- · Prior experience with molecular testing techniques (PCR, qPCR, etc.)
