What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Interventionist - Middle School (.5 FTE) position at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Community School District?
The Adel DeSoto Minburn Community School District is seeking a highly skilled and motivated half-time math interventionist teacher. ADM is a growing school district with over 2000 students and is located directly west of Waukee on the edge of the Des Moines metropolitan area. This half-time position will serve 7th and 8th grade students at ADM Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. Future years' building placement is subject to change based on student data and specific district needs.
The qualified candidate will work with building administrators, building leadership teams, and classroom teachers to identify and implement evidence-based interventions to support struggling mathematicians. This position will work with small groups and individual students to provide focused interventions. The ideal candidate would possess a passion for student achievement in math, have expertise in the 8 mathematical practices and mathematical standards, and demonstrate a deep understanding of content knowledge and number sense. Finally, the ideal candidate would have experience successfully implementing evidence-based interventions, such as the Georgia Numeracy Project.
Candidates must lead with humility and strive for continued improvement. Applicants must be highly collaborative and able to analyze student achievement data to make instructional decisions. The position will receive a teaching contract and will provide intervention based on the identified needs of students in the district.
Requirements:

Valid Iowa Teaching License including one of the following:
- K-8 Math Endorsement,
- 5 -12 Math Endorsement
- 5-8 Math Endorsement
- 5-8 Middle School Generalist
- Preferred but not required experience with the FAST data system and Panorama Student Success
- Preferred but not required experience with implementation of evidence and research-based math interventions and practices.
Primary roles and essential functions of the teacher:
- Unwavering belief that every student can achieve at high levels.
- Ability to assume leadership roles in professional development, intervention meetings, and PLC meetings.
- Identification and skilled implementation of evidence-based interventions with struggling mathematicians.
- Progress monitoring and review of data to analyze the effectiveness of instruction and trends in student performance.
- Flexibility to adapt practices based on new learning and/or student response to interventions.
- Collaboration with administrators and teachers in progress monitoring, review of student data, and instructional decisions based on data.
