Adecco Permanent Search is hiring a Procurement Specialist for an established electronics manufacturing company in Wareham, Massachusetts. This position plays a critical role in leading procurement operations to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, components, and services required to support both prototype and full-scale production activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong supplier management experience, strategic sourcing expertise, and a solid understanding of electronics manufacturing environments, including printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives, production schedules, and customer requirements.
• Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with suppliers of electronic components, raw materials, and external services.
• Coordinate closely with production, engineering, program management, and other cross-functional teams to ensure material availability and support uninterrupted operations.
• Monitor inventory levels and proactively address potential shortages to support both quick-turn prototype work and larger production runs.
• Evaluate supplier performance related to quality, delivery, pricing, and reliability, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality standards and meeting customer expectations.
• Manage procurement activities across a variety of projects serving industrial, commercial, and military markets.
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality processes.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier agreements, contracts, and supporting documentation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing team members while promoting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the procurement function.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five or more years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably within electronics manufacturing or an EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) environment.
• Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assembly processes including SMT, through-hole, and mixed technology, and related supply chain dynamics.
• Proven success in supplier negotiations, vendor management, and strategic sourcing.
• Experience utilizing ERP and/or MRP systems to support procurement and materials planning activities.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting military, defense, or other regulated procurement environments.
• Familiarity with ISO standards or other formal quality management systems.
• APICS or ISM certifications such as CPSM or CPIM.
