Title: Payroll Manager

Location: Reston VA - on site

Compensation: $130-150K (depending on experience)

Addison Group is seeking a Payroll Manager with union payroll experience for an opportunity with one of our clients. This role combines payroll operations with accounting responsibilities, including reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and union reporting.

Responsibilities

• Process and review payroll for union and nonunion employees, ensuring accurate wages, deductions, and benefits.
• Interpret collective bargaining agreements to apply union pay rates, overtime provisions, dues, and fringe benefit contributions.
• Prepare and reconcile union benefit reports, dues, and remittances.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close, including payroll accruals and variance analysis.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in partnership with HR, Accounting, and Operations.
• Support payroll audits and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 5 years of payroll experience, including payroll accounting responsibilities.
• Hands-on union payroll experience required, including interpreting collective bargaining agreements and administering union deductions and benefits.
• Strong understanding of payroll reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with payroll or ERP systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines and confidential information.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• CPP certification and multistate payroll experience are a plus.
