About The Company:

Our client is a leading organization overseeing large-scale industrial construction projects within the energy sector. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Coordinator to provide owner-side field oversight, monitor construction progress, and ensure mechanical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.

Job Description:

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Coordinator to support a major EPC construction project. This role serves as the owner's on-site representative for mechanical construction activities, working closely with project management, contractors, and field personnel to monitor progress, verify quality, and maintain accurate project documentation.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with heavy industrial or power generation projects and enjoys working in the field while supporting construction teams through effective coordination and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily mechanical construction activities to ensure work is progressing according to project plans and quality standards.
  • Perform regular field inspections and identify workmanship or installation concerns requiring contractor attention.
  • Track equipment installation, welding activities, inspections, testing, and overall construction progress.
  • Create detailed daily field reports using Microsoft Excel, including labor tracking, progress updates, and photo documentation.
  • Capture and organize project photos to support daily reports and maintain project records.
  • Coordinate lockout/tagout (LOTO) activities with project leadership during construction activities.
  • Review contractor work plans and verify mechanical installations meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections with quality personnel and assist in resolving field issues.
  • Evaluate contractor performance, progress, and adherence to project commitments.
  • Participate in daily and weekly project meetings, providing updates on construction progress, challenges, and upcoming work.
  • Maintain organized project documentation using Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other document management tools.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience supporting mechanical construction on EPC, power generation, heavy industrial, or similar large-scale projects.
  • Previous owner-side construction oversight experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment layouts, site plans, one-line diagrams, and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction methods, inspections, and quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, filtering, formatting, charts, and pivot tables.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Experience documenting field observations through reports, annotated images, or PDFs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting combined-cycle or simple-cycle power generation projects.
  • Familiarity with startup, commissioning, or outage activities.
  • Experience using Primavera P6 Viewer or Microsoft Project.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
