The apprenticeship includes full-time employment and benefits at Addiction Services And Pharmacotherapy. Education track to achieve your SAC-IT while receiving on the job training in the field of addiction. During the Substance Abuse Counselor Apprenticeship program, the apprentice will complete ASAP Education's (educationasap.com) DSPS certified 100-hour SAC-IT Pre-Certification Program. Completion of this program will allow the ASAP apprentice to achieve their SAC-IT license.
Apprenticeship Employee will be hired for the full-time position of Office Support Staff while completing the required 100 hours of specialized education required to apply for a Substance Abuse Counselor-In Training (SAC-IT) license. Once an employee receives their SAC-IT credential, they will transition immediately to a full-time counselor position with adjusted compensation consistent with the new position.
During the apprenticeship, ASAP will provide further education and awareness of medication assisted treatment while focusing on the NADAAC’s 12 core functions: Screening, Intake, Orientation, Assessment, Treatment Planning, Counseling, Case Management, Crisis Intervention, Client Education, Referral, Reporting & Record Keeping, and Consultation with Other Professionals.
Job Functions:
Office Support Staff are individuals who act as a resource for the counseling and nursing staff as well as the first point of contact for the ASAP patient population.
- Operate the front desk of the clinic and be the first point of contact for patients and clinic visitors.
- Answer the phone and direct callers to the appropriate place.
- Collect patient cash/credit card payments, keep an accurate account of patient payments and patient balances and count money in the cash drawer to ensure that the amount of cash on hand is equal to cash received.
- Help monitor the clinic lobby and manage patient flow by directing patients to the appropriate place in the clinic.
- Take responsibility for the protection of the rights and confidentiality of all patients that are served.
- Ensure that all patients are treated with respect, dignity and free from any discrimination.
- Produce or assist in the production of various reports related to patient payments and billing functions.
- Assist in the admission of new patients as needed and appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining overall cleanliness of the clinic.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/ Licensure/ Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent (required)
- Working knowledge or willingness to learn and understand addiction treatment and counseling
- The ability to effectively communicate with a variety of groups of people with respect and courtesy
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. and an ability to move throughout the clinic premises
- Ability to change positions from sitting to standing multiple times throughout the day without pain or difficulty.
Work Hours
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
- Monday-Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm
- Occasional Saturdays and Sundays 5:45am-9:15am on a rotating basis with other staff.
Work Location
- Private office upon completion of SAC-IT licensure

- Home base remains the same after completion of apprenticeship

Pay: $19.00 - $22.50 per hour
