About the Role:
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position is essential in implementing individualized treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and managing crisis situations to ensure patient safety and progress. The technician will maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation to support continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards. They will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute discharge plans that promote successful patient transitions. Ultimately, this role contributes to improving patient outcomes by delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a structured and supportive environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Behavioral Health Technician training program or relevant certification preferred.
- Experience in clinical documentation and patient care within a mental health or behavioral health setting.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Familiarity with mental health disorders, including Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), and related treatment approaches.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field.
- Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent crisis management training.
- Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations in behavioral health settings.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting clinical assessments and monitoring patient behavior to identify needs and progress.
- Provide direct patient care and support, including crisis intervention and management during acute episodes.
- Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment and discharge plans.
- Support patients with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) by applying therapeutic techniques and ensuring a safe environment.
