Duties
- Safely operate various types of passenger vehicles, including passenger vans, limousines, shuttle buses, and personal vehicles for transportation of deceased individuals.
- Follow established local and state transportation regulations to ensure legal compliance during all transport activities.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes and reach destinations promptly.
- Assist with manual handling tasks such as lifting and securing caskets or body containers with care and respect.
- Communicate effectively with clients, funeral home staff, hospital personnel, and other stakeholders to coordinate transportation details.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and traffic laws while driving on local routes or long-distance trips.
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or shuttle driver, preferably within medical transportation or funeral services.
- Strong driving skills with experience operating passenger vans, chauffeur vehicles, or limousine services.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning for efficient local driving routes.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks associated with body transportation.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate compassionately during sensitive situations.
- Knowledge of traffic regulations, state transportation laws, and safety standards relevant to passenger vehicle operation.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge to ensure ongoing vehicle safety and reliability.
