Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School Math and Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 6 through 8. Duties
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans in math and science subjects, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, organic chemistry, and differential equations.
- Incorporate learning technology and instructional design principles to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Design assessments aligned with curriculum standards and prepare students for standardized testing through targeted tutoring and review sessions.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and active participation.
- Utilize classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies to support diverse learners, including students with special education needs.
- Mentor students academically and personally, providing guidance on educational pathways and supporting higher education preparation.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research projects, and instructional best practices to continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
- Engage in professional development opportunities related to science research laboratories, library services for research purposes, Montessori methods (if applicable), or other relevant educational approaches.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, assessments, and lesson plans while proofreading materials for clarity and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Science or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle school students in math and science disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of math topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations; as well as science topics including cell biology, microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry; along with laboratory experience in dissections and scientific research.
- Experience working with diverse learners including those requiring special education accommodations or Montessori-based instruction.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools used for instructional design and student engagement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts to students of varying abilities.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with effective behavior management strategies.
- Ability to develop curriculum content that aligns with educational standards while fostering curiosity through research laboratory activities or library services for scientific exploration.
- Experience in higher education teaching or mentoring is a plus but not required; strong research background in scientific fields is valued.
