Program and Campus Manager
The Adaptive Outdoor Education Center (AOEC) believes that everyone deserves the
opportunity to experience adventure, community, and belonging. Through year-round
adaptive recreation and education programs, we empower individuals with disabilities to
build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, highly organized, and mission-driven
Program and Campus Manager to join our passionate team. This full-time opportunity
is a multi-faceted position including hands-on programming, supervision, grant writing,
staff and volunteer coordination, community partnership, fundraising and sponsorship
programs. In addition, supervision of overall campus events and grounds is expected for
quality programming. The ability to work closely with the Board of Directors will help
ensure that growth of the AOEC’s impact and mission is expected.
About the Program
The mission of the AOEC is to enhance the quality of life for all people with disabilities
through adaptive recreation and education programs.The AOEC has two campuses,
one is located in Brunswick Maine, and the other is a fully accessible lodge in
Carrabassett Valley, Maine. Off campus programming takes place at various locations
throughout the state.
Program activities assist and enhance participants in gaining recreation and social
skills, to increase physical strength, improve self-image, gain confidence, and develop
friendships. Participants benefit from physical and social activities that enrich their lives
and contribute to community inclusion and acceptance.
Job Summary
The position of Program and Campus Manager will be located primarily on the AOEC
campus in Brunswick. The person will fill the role of manager who oversees the
following:
1. Staffing
• Oversees day-to-day operations of program, program development and schedules
• Supervision of staff and volunteers
• Ensure all program spaces are safe, clean, and orderly
• Evaluate and conduct staff and job performance
• Ensure program quality
• Develop protocols for staff for health and safety of program and participants
2. Programming
• Advertise program offerings in identified sources
• Maintenance of the program website and other social media sites
• Assign staff hours (with flexibility)
• Develop protocols as needed (safety, behavior, etc.)
• Assist in programs as needed, as assigned by Board of Directors
• Develop relationships with agencies, families, funders, and other program sites
• Oversee program budgets and purchases
• Visit other program sites as needed
3. Training
• Provide or arrange seasonal activity training for staff and volunteers
• Ensure CPR and FA for all staff are current
• Review safety protocols for the program campus
• Encourage staff to learn new skills for program development
4. Financial
• Assist with fundraising efforts and Board requests
• Write grants
• Oversee program budget
5. Building and Grounds
• Ensure program spaces within and outside the buildings are secure prior to
programs beginning, and when programs are completed, or other groups are on site
• Develop written protocols for staff/volunteers
Qualifications
• Passion for inclusion, accessibility, outdoor recreation and the arts
• Excellent communication, organizational and relationship skills
• Ability to multi-task on a daily basis
• Successful grant writing experience
• Experience in the non-profit sector with a minimum of 3 years managerial
experience
• Background and experience in recreation, education, hospitality, or related field
preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Must be able to work evenings and weekend as needed
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Current certifications in First Aid and CPR, or willingness to get certified.
