Responsibilities:
- Responsible for machine design projects utilizing SolidWorks from start to completion.
- This includes concept development, detail design, qualification, manufacturing transition, and production support.
- Provide engineering support to the design, development and selection of basic hardware components utilizing fundamental mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques.
- Develop innovative and robust hardware solutions to meet demanding customer requirements
- Create detailed assembly drawings
- Assist in the design and fabrication of prototypes.
- Develop or improve test fixtures, tooling, manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical faults and issues, assessing test failures for root cause, identifying disposition/corrective actions
- Prepare technical documentation and calculations in support of technical solutions and Design Standards
- Develop and revise technical drawing packages based on examples and company standards.
- Generate content for project proposals, including developing concepts and estimating effort and equipment cost
- Communicating with the customer to understand specific equipment requirements.
- Communicating project requirements internally with other members of our team and externally to our customers builders
- Implementation of Dimensional Tolerance, Geometric Tolerance, and Fit
- Knowledge of drawing specifications for defining weldments, machine parts, and Sheetmetal parts and assemblies
- Must utilize design knowledge in: part surface modeling, in context part & assembly modeling, analyzing simple motion for functionality and interference, manufacturing troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- (For graduates) AS or BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way.
- Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity, strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
- Machine Design & Automation
- Experienced with project management and fulfilling timelines
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc,)
- SolidWorks CAD
- Understanding of Dimensional Tolerance, Geometric Tolerance, and Fit
- DFMA
- 5 Years experience working within a design engineering capacity.
Desired, but not required, Experience:
- Experience designing around or working with pneumatics/pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with Motion Systems
- Familiarity with Hydraulics
- End-of-Arm Tooling Design
- Robotic Systems (Epson, Fanuc, etc)
- Vision Systems, Presence Sensors
- 3D Printing
- PLC Knowledge
