Position Title: Industrial Technology
Salary Range: Teacher Salary
Contract Length: Teacher Contract
Immediate Supervisor: Principal, Director of Adult and Career Technical Education
Basic Function: This position requires a certified teacher who will successfully develop and implement all aspects of a Technical (industrial) education program for high school students.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Possess all requirements for teaching Technology (Industrial) Education
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudes
- Has working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students’ learning styles and needs
- Update the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and College & Career Pathways for Construction and Engineering
- Include a unit on safety and OSHA standards within the curriculum.
- Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families
- Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills
- Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving.
- Manage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student population
- Integrate common core standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculum
- Participates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional development
- Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs
- Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment.
- Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Technology Education or CTE: Trade and Industrial Education teaching license
- Prior teaching experience in urban education preferred but not required
- Strong organizational and supervision skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty and administration
- Knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office Professional and CAD Software
Physical Demands:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling; bending at the waist; lifting; pushing; pulling and carrying equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.
