Position Summary:

The Shop Technician supports the Shop Lead by performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks and equipment. This role is primarily hands-on and focuses on ensuring trucks are serviced efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on semi-trucks, trailers, and shop equipment.
• Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and equipment failure.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and DOT regulations.
• Assist with parts installation and equipment testing after repairs.
• Help with inventory organization and tracking of tools and parts as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in truck and trailer maintenance and repair.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under direction.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical training or certification in diesel mechanics or related field.
• Experience working in a truck shop or fleet maintenance environment.
• Familiarity with DOT inspection requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Work is primarily in a truck shop environment.
• Requires standing, bending, lifting, and working with tools for extended periods.
• Exposure to noise, grease, chemicals, and moving equipment.
• May require working evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Performance Metrics:

• Quality and accuracy of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Timeliness in completing assigned work orders.
• Adherence to safety standards and procedures.
• Reliability and contribution to overall shop efficiency.
