Position Summary:
The Paralegal will be a key legal resource for a growing family office with active operating business interests. The role will manage routine legal and compliance matters in-house, providing direct support to corporate leadership and shareholders on a wide range of matters. The Paralegal will work alongside directors on high-impact projects, offer legal support to shareholders in their affiliated ventures, and streamline legal workflows to help reduce dependence on external counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with state and federal filing requirements.
- Manage corporate entity records, minute books, and ownership documentation across multiple entities (domestic and international).
- Coordinate execution and recordkeeping of board resolutions, written consents, and other governance actions.
- Conduct legal and regulatory research for the operating company and shareholder’s affiliated entities.
- Draft, review, and edit standard agreements such as supply chain contracts, broker agreements, MSAs.
- Research regulatory, corporate, and compliance matters for cross-functional teams as needed.
- Liaise with external general counsel, auditors, and other professional advisors to efficiently facilitate legal support.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and at least one year of law-related experience under a qualified attorney; or
- Certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program.
Skills and Competencies:
- Familiarity with contract, real estate (lease agreements), intellectual property, tax, and/or corporate law.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance and entity management.
- Ability to interpret and summarize complex legal language into actionable guidance.
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable managing multiple priorities across diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Notary license.
- Background in agribusiness or family business.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel to external counsel, estate planners, or other professional offices (e.g., Sacramento, Woodland, Arbuckle) as needed.
