Responsibilities
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including curriculum development tailored to diverse learning needs.
- Lead daily classroom activities that promote literacy education, math skills, physical education, and social-emotional learning for preschool and toddler-aged children.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques to create a safe, respectful, and engaging environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share progress updates, discuss concerns, and foster strong home-school connections.
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain accurate documentation of child progress and incidents.
- Collaborate with special education staff to support children requiring early intervention services or additional support in areas such as speech or motor skills.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that supports child welfare and safety standards, including first aid and CPR certification upkeep.
Experience
- Prior experience working with young children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or daycare environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles, classroom management strategies, and early intervention techniques.
- Experience developing curricula that incorporate literacy education, math instruction, physical education, and Montessori or other specialized teaching methods.
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws, child welfare policies, and standardized testing procedures relevant to early childhood education.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and community partners to support student success.
- Classroom experience with toddlers or preschool-aged children is highly preferred.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required or obtainable upon hire; additional certifications in special education or Montessori teaching are advantageous.
