ABOUT WOODLAND AND JOB CORPS CENTER

The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging. We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides safe, efficient and effective transportation for students. Responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of Center facility and grounds.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00pm, OFF Saturday and Sunday.

What Woodland Job Corps is looking for in a candidate:

  • An organized and reliable professional whose top priority is providing good customer service to our staff and students. Good Customer Service can look like: delivering requested items to other departments on center, assisting third-party vendors on center, tackling maintenance tickets in a timely fashion.
  • An applicant with basic knowledge of facilities maintenance, including property upkeep, routine tasks, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing and appliance repair a plus!
  • Problem-solving skills, a candidate that is proactive and independent in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance challenges.
  • A candidate who can share their maintenance knowledge with student workers on our Center. Student workers may be assigned to Maintenance Helpers once they have reached a certain percentage in their trade. It would be the responsibility of the Maintenance Helper to have students shadow them and guide them on how to perform basic maintenance tasks from drywall to changing HVAC filters to basic plumbing. Remember: We are shaping tomorrow's workforce!

Key Responsibilities of a Maintenance Helper:

  • Receives daily assignments and organizes tools, supplies/ materials, and equipment required to complete work.
  • Arranges the order of assignments to carry out work orders in the most efficient manner.
  • Performs repair, renovation, and restorative work to the building, grounds, equipment, and systems on the campus.
  • Performs general cleaning of buildings, grounds to include sweeping, hard flooring care, and trash removal.
  • May assist third-party vendors in testing, inspection or repair of equipment and facilities,
  • Completes all mandatory training courses and participates in other professional development activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred. Prefer previous experience working with youth. Must possess and maintain a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements.
Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.

MAINTENANCE & SUPERVISION

May supervise Job Corps’ Work-Based Learning students assigned to the department.
