Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Order Fulfillment & Operations
- Manage day-to-day LTL orders and oversee the freight team to execute the scheduled workload consistently within SLA requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for verifying the accuracy and thoroughness of LTL orders prior to shipment.
- Utilize daily replenishment and transfer reports to prioritize replenishment of primary pick locations and ensure adequate inventory coverage throughout the main warehouse.
- Monitor open order queues and proactively communicate potential delays or fulfillment risks to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Support the coordination of inbound receiving, putaway, and outbound shipping workflows to maintain continuous operational flow.
- Assist in the preparation and verification of shipping documentation, packing lists, and carrier requirements to ensure compliance with customer routing guides.
Inventory Management & Accuracy
- Create, execute, and review both ad-hoc and scheduled cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve inventory variances; document root cause findings and corrective actions in the ERP/WMS system.
- Oversee proper product labeling, location assignments, and slotting to support efficient pick operations.
- Conduct regular audits of storage locations to ensure product integrity, cleanliness, and compliance with organization standards.
Team Leadership & Development
- Promote a daily positive, professional, and inclusive dialogue among the team; actively address behavior or conversation detrimental to maintaining a professional work environment.
- Motivate the team to consistently meet and exceed performance expectations, productivity standards, and established goals. Lead by example.
- Deliver structured onboarding and training for new team members; execute recurrent training for existing associates as performance gaps are identified.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor on identifying and issuing Counseling & Training Records (CTRs), Incident Reports, and Disciplinary Warnings as warranted.
- Provide real-time feedback and recognition to associates to reinforce best practices and sustain high performance.
- Assist the Warehouse Supervisor with staffing allocation and daily task assignments to optimize team productivity and balance workload.
Systems & Technology
- Become a recognized ERP/WMS super-user; leverage system capabilities to ensure accurate and timely execution of warehouse responsibilities and swift resolution of system-related issues.
- Accurately process transactions in the WMS including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and order confirmations.
- Identify system discrepancies and work cross-functionally with Operations and IT to troubleshoot and resolve.
- Stay current on system updates or process changes; communicate and train the team on new workflows as implemented.
Process Improvement & Leadership Coverage
- In the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor, assume responsibility for monitoring and upholding the cadence of all daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse and order management tasks.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in root cause analysis; collaborate with the Warehouse Supervisor to develop, revise, and document improved standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Demonstrate decisive urgency and responsiveness to daily operational challenges; maintain clear, timely communication with all accountable parties.
- Actively participate in identifying and implementing process improvements that reduce error rates, improve throughput, and support scalability.
- Assist in preparing and presenting operational performance metrics and team updates to warehouse leadership as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of leading or supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution center, operations, or related environment.
- 3 years of advanced knowledge working with ERP/WMS systems, RF/scanner devices, MS Office, and MS Teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time-sensitive workflows and competing priorities in a high-volume fulfillment environment.
- Strong working knowledge of LTL shipping operations, carrier routing guides, and order management best practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; fosters collaboration across Operations and Warehouse teams.
- Ability to translate complex operational problems clearly and in non-technical terms to team members and stakeholders.
- A friendly and positive “Can Do” attitude with superb attention to detail, a high sense of urgency, and the ability to follow through to completion.
- Tenacity and a genuine desire for continuous improvement — for both self and the broader team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be actively moving throughout the warehouse for the majority of the workday.
