The Literacy Interventionist at Adair County Primary Center is responsible for providing targeted, research-based reading interventions to students who are performing below grade-level. This grant-funded position supports the school’s commitment to improving literacy outcomes by delivering small-group, individualized instruction aligned to Kentucky Academic Standards. The interventionist will monitor and analyze student data and collaborate with classroom teachers to close achievement gaps in reading.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•
Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy interventions.
•
Deliver explicit, systematic instruction in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
•
Use assessment data to identify student needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
•
Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students receiving intervention services.
•
Progress monitor students regularly and maintain accurate records of student growth and intervention effectiveness.
•
Collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators to align interventions with core instruction.
•
Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings and data team discussions.
•
Communicate student progress with families and provide strategies to support literacy at home.
•
Support school-wide literacy initiatives and professional learning efforts.
•
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district and state policies and procedures.
Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Literacy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
•
Valid Kentucky teaching certificate.
•
Experience teaching or providing literacy intervention at the elementary level.
•
Strong knowledge of the science of reading and evidence-based literacy practices.
•
Experience with data analysis and progress monitoring tools.
•
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

*This position is funded through the Kentucky Department of Education Read to Achieve Grant and is limited to a two-year term, concluding when grant funds cease. While it is possible that the grant may be refunded, continuation of the position beyond the initial term is not guaranteed.
