Traffic Control Field Assistant

We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Traffic Control Field Assistant to provide field and administrative support in New York and Connecticut. This role combines traffic-control work, equipment operation, travel, and day-to-day interaction with flagger crews. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Director, Field Supervisor, and Dispatch to follow direction effectively, communicate professionally, and perform independently when needed. This role covers work sites in the Capital Region; Southern Tier of New York and Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide field and administrative support to the flagger crews and contractors.
• Work closely with operations and carry out assigned directions.
• Perform flagging and other traffic-control duties.
• Operate and support a truck-mounted attenuator.
• Drive company vehicles and tow equipment as assigned.
• Use a phone, computer, and job-related applications to complete work and communicate updates.
• Maintain professional communication with management, dispatch, contractors, and crew members.
• Train new crew members and supply them with appropriate PPE and gear.
• Work independently and exercise sound judgment in the field.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Valid driver’s license and demonstrated ability to drive safely. Company vehicle and gas card provided.
• Current DOT medical card.
• Current ATSSA certification. Certification can be obtained upon hire.
• Some management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to complete required training and use assigned safety gear and equipment.
• Ability to work effectively both under direction and independently.

Travel and Work Requirements

• Frequent travel throughout Connecticut and New York.
• Overnight travel as required.
• Ability to tow equipment and perform field-based work.
• Flexibility to support changing schedules and job needs.
