The Merchandiser Lead role combines hands-on merchandising with leadership responsibilities. The primary goal is to maintain and optimize product displays (coolers, floor displays, aisles) in assigned stores to boost sales, while also supporting and overseeing the team of merchandisers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing all core merchandising duties: stocking, facing, rotating product, maintaining displays, and ensuring neat, fully stocked presentation before leaving a store.
- Covering open routes, filling in for absent merchandisers, or assisting at priority locations as needed (requires a highly flexible schedule).
- Monitoring the performance of other merchandisers — observing adherence to standards, providing on-the-job coaching and feedback, and reporting issues/observations to supervisors and leadership.
- Acting as a dependable, standout example for the team — maintaining exceptional standards, proactively improving displays/sales opportunities, and being someone the merchandising leadership can rely on.
- Communicating effectively with sales reps and supervisors about display issues, customer concerns, delivery problems, or product errors.
- Enforcing rules like no cellphone use/headphones on the floor (except work-related), proper uniform/appearance standards, and following all standard operating procedures.
Compensation:
- This is an hourly position with a wage range of 18-22.00 per hour plus incentives.
- Transportation - either a company provided vehicle or employee paid mileage.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a merchandiser (preferably in beverage, grocery, or retail stocking/merchandising) or equivalent retail/warehouse experience.
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or training experience preferred (e.g., leading a small team, mentoring new hires, or acting as a senior merchandiser).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for route coverage and travel between stores).
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in varying conditions (coolers, outdoors, early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed).
- Proven track record of reliability, excellent attendance, and high performance in merchandising standards (e.g., consistent rotation, display maintenance, and sales-driving presentation).
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to provide feedback, train team members, and interact with store personnel/sales reps.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability to monitor performance, identify issues, and ensure consistent execution across locations.
- Flexible availability and willingness to adjust schedule on short notice to cover routes, fill in for absences, or support team needs.
