Acuren Inspection is now hiring a QHSE Manager/RSO for operations in Raleigh, NC, Kingsport, TN and Ona, WV.

The District QHSE Manager/RSO works with all levels of the organization to ensure the delivery of world-class quality services to the region’s clients. This position will work closely with the Regional/Corporate Radiation Safety, Regional/Corporate QHSE, as well as the Division Manager and Operations Manager to ensure that corporate goals and objectives for the radiation and safety programs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resources to ensure we use appropriate safety equipment, carry out environmental health and safety and radiation safety training where required, and to conduct both environmental health and safety and radiation safety audits on a regular basis.
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S programs and Radiation Safety and environmental programs. Ensure compliance has been achieved and maintained at the respective Acuren facility relative to OSHA, NRC, Jurisdictional, and DOT and IATA regulations.
  • Audit on-the-job radiation safety performance.
  • Audit on-the-job EH&S performance.
  • Ensure compliance and corrective actions when required are implemented.
  • Monitor radiographic operations and the use of all procedures in the specific area of responsibility through audits, inspections, and other oversight techniques.
  • Provides training and guidance in the adherence of the radiation safety program in the local office(s).
  • Provides training and guidance in the adherence of the EH&S program in the local office(s).
  • Hands on training for 40-hour Rad. Safety for Assistant Radiographers.
  • Shipping & handling of sources and source retrieval.
  • Quarterly inspection of cranks and guide tube quarterly, cranks to be sent out annually.
  • Calibration of the Dosimetry and survey meters.
  • Manage RSO duties for assigned office locations.
  • May perform radiography in the field as needed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies.
  • Advise all management on radiation safety issues and environmental health and safety issues.
  • Maintain and manage jurisdictional Radioactive Material Licenses.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by maintaining the Radiographic Operation and Emergency Manual.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as it relates to Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Ensure RSO training and certifications are current.
  • Conduct annual corporate audits for each facility.
  • Investigate all Radiation Safety Incidents and Environmental Health and Safety Incidents
  • Participate in both client specific and project specific safety meetings

Requirements

  • Familiarity with all relevant licenses, Operating and Emergency Manuals, NRC and applicable State Regulations, and pertinent sections of 49 CFR Transportation.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and general Environmental Health and Safety princliples.
  • Demonstrated experience as a leader.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time Radiography experience.
  • IRRSP or equivalent State Card certification required
  • Preferred candidate will meet the qualifications of RSO, including experience and training in source retrieval and equipment maintenance. For candidates who does not have current training, must be willing to obtain required training and certifications within first three months of position.
  • Preferred candidate will have current environmental health and safety training and/or certifications such as OSHA 30, OSHA 500, OSHA 510, etc.
  • Previous RSOs who have not met the two-year full-time radiographer requirement may submit alternative qualifications demonstrating their training and experience in radiation safety programs.
