Personal Care Attendant (PCA) – Special Needs / Wheelchair User

Location: Metairie, Louisiana

Position Type: Full-Time/ Hourly Rate: $16.31

Schedule: Monday-Friday 10 AM- 6 PM Days

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and attentive Personal Care Attendant to assist a young adult male who uses a wheelchair. This is an active, hands-on role—not a sitting position. The client will go on shopping trips and doctor appointments

No prior experience is necessary—we are willing to train a motivated person with a great attitude!

Key Responsibilities

·      Care & Hygiene: Assist with bathing, changing, and personal hygiene routine.

·      Specialized Health Task: Willingness to learn and assist with self-catheterization (training provided).

·      Transfers: Assist client with transfers (client weighs under 110lbs).

·      Meal Preparation: Prepare and fix daily lunch.

·      Companionship & Engagement: Provide dedicated, active attention throughout your shift.

·      Transportation: Drive client to local appointments, shopping, and outings as needed.

·     Requirements & Qualifications

·      Physical Capabilities: Must be able to lift and transfer a 115 lb young man in his wheelchair.

·      Reliable Transportation: Must own a reliable vehicle with sufficient space to transport a wheelchair.

·      Legal & Driving Documentation:

·      Valid Driver’s License

·      Current Automobile Insurance

·      Social Security Card

·      Must successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check. State required

·      Attention & Reliability: Client is medically fragile and requires your focused attention while on shift.

·      Strict Health Policy: Due to the client's medical fragility, caregivers cannot come to work with any contagious illness.
