What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Support Specialist position at Acuity?
The Technical Specialist will support Acuity's Indiana Production Facility (IPF), and provide day to day support that is necessary for maintaining production and manufacturing efficiencies. He/she will work with Test Development Engineering to resolve EOL test software issues, validate new automated test systems to ensure functionality, performance and bug free designs, report tester HW and SW bugs and ensure resolution prior to release to production. In addition, this role will be responsible for upgrading existing test systems to improve performance and to meet new requirements for product introduction; provide timely production support to manufacturing to address and resolve production testing issues; and support initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost and increase throughput and efficiencies.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Essential Functions: 90%
• Resolving production EOL test issues and escalating complex issues to higher-level or other support teams.
• Perform regular EOL test systems maintenance, install new PCs, update test software and validate to ensure functionality and optimum performance.
• Provide production test support, troubleshoot EOL test failures.
• Support Quality team’s initiatives, goals and objectives, ensuring products are tested correctly to prevent escapes to our customers.
• Support troubleshooting and root cause of production test system fault, deploy, test, and validate improvements and contribute to CAPA, and 5 Whys initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with Test Development Engineering to validate and release new test systems into production.
• Support continuous improvement events such as Kaizen and 5S.
• Train test systems users in new hardware, software, or best practices to improve their technical literacy and efficiency.
• Assist test systems users in resolving hardware, software, or network issues.
• Monitoring performance of new testers deployed for new products, ensuring issues detected are mitigated without past due action or down time.
Essential Functions: 10%
• Support new product introduction and launch to production.
• Work with local vendor and fab house to create testing jigs to reduce cost.
• Create LPM for new ci codes.
Non-essential Functions:
• New hire orientation.
• Assist in the creation/compilation and upload of luminary model codes for LPM creation.
What we look for:
• High School diploma plus relevant knowledge and experience or equivalent.
• Key skills include good communication, problem-solving, and technical knowledge.
• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in a relevant role (experience in manufacturing or electronics is a plus).
• Knowledge and experience or familiarity with automatic production tests for electronics.
• Strong desire to learn and grow.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Experience and Education
• Associate's Degree in a technical field and 1- 2 years’ experience in a production facility.
• Familiarity with production test equipment.
• Continous improvement and team mindset, teachable and works well with others.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus to work with our Test Development Engineering team in Mexico.
