Location: This is an on-site position located at the Polk County Juvenile Assessment Center in Bartow, FL.

What You'll be Doing?

  • Scheduling in-home appointments within fourteen (14) days of client admission to introduce program services, complete intake documents and provide orientation.
  • Completing a thorough interview with the juvenile, family members, referral source, and collateral sources to determine the factors contributing to the domestic violence.
  • Completing an intervention plan with the juvenile and identifying their needs.
  • Conducting and documenting an intervention plan progress review on a monthly basis.
  • Identifying whether there is substance abuse occurring among any household members and documenting an immediate referral for further evaluation and/or treatment.
  • Identifying all non-abusing members between the ages of 10 and 17 within the home, to include either the offender, siblings or others, to receive substance abuse educational materials.
  • Providing selective intervention services in the form of specialized counseling focusing on effective communication, anger management, problem-solving, coping skills, parenting, and other identified needs to reduce the risk of future violence and substance abuse involvement.
  • Providing case management and referral services to assist families with accessing needed services including alternative placement options.
  • Collaborating with treatment and community service providers to ensure services are streamlined and to avoid duplicative efforts by multiple sources.
  • Maintaining a caseload of ten (10) to twelve (12) families.
  • Documenting all activities conducted for or on behalf of the juvenile and any pertinent information obtained in the clinical record.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with Department of Children and Families, Department of Juvenile Justice, and service provider staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What is Required?

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social work or closely related human services majors.
  • Valid Florida Driver License. Regular daytime travel is required between ACTS locations, courts and/or DJJ service locations. This position does not require overnight travel.
  • Ability to pass Federal, State, Local Law and Level 2 background clearances.
  • Physically able to participate in DJJ-approved crisis intervention curriculum and CPR/First Aid training and able to apply same to work setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Performs duties in a secured setting with law enforcement presence. This role routinely uses computer, mobile devices and standard office equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.

  • Ability to make critical decisions in high stress situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.\Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
