Operator Job Description
Command Center Operators serve as a vital liaison between clients, security personnel, and law enforcement. They are responsible for gathering, observing, and documenting site activity to provide accurate and timely information, especially during critical incidents. Command Center Operators must be capable of professionally assisting all parties in the collection and communication of sensitive information. A calm, patient, and friendly demeanor is essential—particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Primary Responsibilities
Security & Monitoring
- Maintain constant surveillance of sites and respond to suspicious or irregular activity.
- Ensure client assets are secure through proactive observation and immediate action when necessary.
Communication & Incident Handling
- Professionally assist clients, guards, and law enforcement with information requests.
- Respond to alarms and emergencies in accordance with company protocol.
- Notify leadership of unresolved issues via phone and email.
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately gather and log incident details.
- Create incident reports, dispatch logs, and service requests for all relevant activity.
- Distribute reports and messages to appropriate internal personnel via email.
Software & Systems Management
- Continuously monitor and troubleshoot surveillance and reporting software.
- Keep all client information up-to-date within the Command Center database.
Administrative & General Tasks
- Perform light cleaning of the Command Center area and adjacent kitchenette.
- Attend monthly staff meetings (both in-person and remote).
- Answer and route phone calls, logging necessary caller information.
Training & Policy Compliance
- Undergo training to learn Command Center-specific tools, client protocols, and reporting standards.
- Review and acknowledge the Employee Handbook.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and leadership directives.
Skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Situational awareness and critical thinking.
- Multitasking and time management.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, data entry, system monitoring).
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and escalate incidents appropriately.
Requirements:
- High School diploma
- Must be 18 years or Older
