Our five independent pharmacies, Acton Pharmacy, West Concord Pharmacy, Theatre Pharmacy in Lexington, Winchester Pharmacy and Keyes Drug in Newton offer prescriptions, compounded medications and other specialty items such as medical supplies, homeopathic remedies, and a full line of vitamins and vaccines.
We are seeking a Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician to work at Acton Pharmacy in Acton, MA. Prior experience in a LTC pharmacy is preferred. This job is a desirable M-F job with no nights or weekends. Rate of Pay Commiserate with Experience
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols. Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
2. Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the services offered by the Branch.
3. Answer telephones and record all relevant patient information.
4. Review incoming prescription information.
5. Pharmaceutical services related to the preparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies to patients at home under the supervision of the pharmacist
6. Prepare and package medications for long-term care patients for review by the pharmacist.
7. Develop technical knowledge of the products/services provided by the Branch and be able to provide information of same to others upon request.
8. Monitor pharmaceutical supply levels and place appropriate orders as approved by the Pharmacist.
9. Assist with the implementation of quality improvement program to meet company and accreditation standards.
10. Perform housekeeping duties with pharmacy- dusting shelves, cleaning.
11. Stock pharmacy supplies- labels, papers, staples, caps, vials and bags.
13. Prepare insurance claims and verify payments, call insurance companies when necessary if claim is not paid.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or graduate equivalent degree. College preferred.
2. Experience in clinical pharmacy or Home Health industry preferred or equivalent.
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills
4. Perform basic math functions
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
2 Years of Experience in a LTC Pharmacy Setting is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of medication brand and generic names. Knowledge of medical terminology
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
CPhT Certification preferred but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting, standing, walking; at desk, in office throughout facility and pharmacy. Operation of office machinery and Pharmacy equipment. Occasionally lift/move items up to 40 pounds.Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
