What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at Acton Medical Associates, PC?
Acton Medical Associates P.C. is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to join our busy primary care practice.
At Acton Medical Associates, our phlebotomists work with a variety of patients to preserve patient health and quality of samples. Our lab is on-site in our primary care practice.
In this role you will:
- Draw from patients of all ages (newborn to geriatric)
- Identify and utilize the correct phlebotomy method (venipuncture, skin puncture) appropriate for the patient
- Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples
- Label samples correctly. Send or deliver correctly for processing
- Reassure patients, answer questions, provide helpful information
- Keep accurate records and adhere to all relevant health and safety standards at all times
Candidate should have:
- Experience with effective puncture techniques
- Understanding of proper patient identification methods
- Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples, and use of relevant medial equipment
- Excellent communication skills, great people skills, presence of mind, and dedication to patient care
- Strong attention to detail
- Completion of a certified phlebotomy program.
- Certification in Phlebotomy preferred but not required.
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) programs
