Location: Hoag Health - Foothill Ranch, CA
Pay Transparency: (DOE; $35.00 per administrative hour, $48.00 per consultation hour)
Role and Responsibilities
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for carrying out Hoag Health’s commitment to serve patients with full commitment and attention as healers, and to deliver on Active Wellness’s commitment to build healthy communities through our core values of authenticity, teamwork, innovation, versatility, and excellence. The Registered Dietitian will work with a team, including Health Coaches, to plan the best course of action to help patients to achieve their nutrition and health goals. The Registered Dietitian will collaborate with the health coach and other allied health care partners to develop a plan to improve patient health based on the prescription for exercise, nutrition, wellness education, and technology that the physician has provided. As part of this process the Registered Dietitian will work one-on-one with patients to establish nutrition plans based on specific conditions, goals, and physician referrals. The Registered Dietitian will provide individual recommendations, support, and guidance to patients in the Hoag Lifestyle Program and communicate patient progress back to the Health Coach through established communication platforms and team meetings.
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Executes Health Assessments and consultation sessions to drive participation in nutrition programs and services.
- Works with the fitness team to support an integrated fitness and nutrition coaching model.
- Organizes the overall execution of nutrition programs for the center.
- Communicates regularly with location management and fitness staff on ways to enhance programming and drive patient outcomes.
- Develops program enhancements appropriate for the needs of the specific site- workshops, lectures, group weight loss and coaching programs.
- Knowledge of and comply with federal, state, local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice requirements.
- Consults with health care personnel and physicians as needed to facilitate meeting the nutritional needs of persons served including counseling and documenting nutritional care plans and visits.
- Instructs patients in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, preparation.
- Teach group educational classes as required.
- Provides counseling for high-risk participants, and acts as a resource to staff concerning nutrition issues of participants in the Hoag Lifestyle Program.
- Implement personalized, age-specific, condition specific, and culturally appropriate nutrition strategies.
- Track patient biometric measures and adherence to programs through designated platforms.
- Manage administration of fee-based and insurance reimbursable nutrition services.
- Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
- Work as a TEAM with all other departments
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Other Functions
- Working knowledge of health, nutrition, fitness, personal development, and how to facilitate habit change.
- Knowledge of health-related diseases and illnesses, and the typical medical treatments used to address them.
- Experience with utilizing technology to support program tracking and participant engagement.
- Demonstrates strong, effective communication skills.
- Passion for helping others improve their health and wellness.
- Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
- Promote club services and activities
- Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
- Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
- Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous health club personal training experience is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience delivering nutrition and coaching programs to both individuals and groups.
- Experience working collaboratively with other allied health care to support individual patient goals and outcomes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field
- Must be a Registered Dietitian
- Experience with data entry and data analysis
- Must become a qualified Medicare provider through Active Wellness within 90 days of hire
- Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
- AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
- Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
- Ability to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
- Fitness club environment
- Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
