We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our tax planning, compliance, and reporting initiatives. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive tax strategies, including estate planning and corporate tax planning, to maximize organizational efficiency and compliance.
- Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Manage audits conducted by tax authorities by providing detailed documentation, analysis, and support for all filings.
- Collaborate with finance teams on financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and analysis of financial concepts such as debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Lead efforts in regulatory reporting, SOX compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and internal controls related to tax processes.
- Support mergers & acquisitions activities through due diligence, tax structuring, and integration of financial systems like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or other accounting software.
- Provide guidance on complex issues such as securities law implications, non-profit accounting standards (if applicable), asset management strategies, and private equity considerations.
- Conduct analysis skills development for team members in areas like account reconciliation, account analysis, budgeting, and financial analysis to foster continuous improvement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes affecting estate planning, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, and other relevant regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a strong focus on tax experience across diverse industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in tax planning including estate planning and LIHTC projects.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP standards combined with practical experience in financial statement preparation and interpretation.
- Familiarity with auditing processes and SOX compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; experience with financial software for regulatory reporting is a plus.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data related to mergers & acquisitions or investment activities.
- Excellent understanding of technical accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounts payable management, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly through written reports or presentations; experience in financial report writing is advantageous.
