Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal counsel on various immigration matters, including visas, green cards, asylum, deportation defense, and naturalization processes
- Prepare and review legal documents such as petitions, applications, affidavits, and supporting evidence with precision and attention to detail
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current on immigration laws, policies, and case law developments
- Represent clients in administrative hearings, interviews, and court proceedings related to immigration cases
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation, assess case viability, and develop strategic plans for successful outcomes
- Maintain meticulous case files and ensure timely submission of all required documentation in accordance with deadlines
- Engage in negotiations with government agencies or opposing parties when appropriate to facilitate favorable resolutions
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar or equivalent licensing authority
- Proven experience practicing immigration law with a strong understanding of federal statutes, regulations, and procedures
- Familiarity with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw for effective case analysis
- Excellent legal drafting skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive documents
- Strong research skills complemented by the ability to interpret complex legal information accurately
- Experience handling litigation cases involving immigration issues or related areas such as family law or tribal law & regulations is a plus
- Knowledge of additional practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, patent law, or law office administrative tasks is advantageous
- Exceptional negotiation skills combined with a proactive approach to client advocacy
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining high-quality work standards
